Illusionary Security,
Good idea but the oil based ink is flawed.
The product info notes that the stamp should not be used on glossy or coated paper. That’s right. The ink slides right off on that surface. But what about other paper?
I tried this on regular copy paper and lower quality pulpy paper (from a financial prospectus). The clever pattern completely obscured the underlying text. Close examination under bright light revealed nothing. I tried shining the light through the back side of the paper. Nothing legible.
I tried rubbing the ink off with a pencil eraser. The ink slowly came off but so did the underlying ink! So it’s secure against that attack.
Then I tried 99% isopropyl rubbing alcohol and a cotton tip swab. On both the copy paper and the pulp paper I was able to remove enough ink to read the underlying text! Took less than 30 seconds.
NOT secure.
The main problem is that this gives the ILLUSION of security. Like locking your front door and leaving a key under the door mat. It only stops casual attacks.
It’s not like I have access to a laboratory of solvents. The FIRST chemical I tried was the rubbing alcohol. If somebody really wants to get your info you can assume he’ll have more chemicals than me!
There’s also a minor problem. The inked area isn’t wide enough to cover most addresses with one impression. So you have to stamp at least twice to obscure what you want to obscure. And, because it’s hard to judge exactly where the pad will hit, you might have to stamp an extra time to cover your misses. So you’ll use up the ink faster than expected.
If the company comes up with a more robust ink then this stamp would be a handy alternative to a cross-cut shredder for many applications. As it is, you’re just keeping the unmotivated crooks at bay.

Flawed Security Tool,
I always have my doubts when it comes to quick fix personal security solutions. This product easily proved my suspicions in a matter of minutes. On the drawing board the Plus Corporation ID Stamp is a great concept. Sadly that’s all it is after testing this model.
Right off the bat I found that it does not work with my glossy shipping labels. The ink literally puddled up. On stationary and copy paper the stamp did an okay job of covering personal information. Because of its small size multiple applications were required to cover my information. Up against the light my info was still hidden from view.
Now the real test. I first tried one of those mondo pencil erasers. I literally made a whole in the paper with no personal data coming up. So far so good. On the second try, I opened a sanitizing towelette. After a few strokes the oil based ink was lifted and there was my personal information for all eyes to see.
This product does nothing more then provide a cosmetic fix. Bottom line is it does not protect information. I won’t be packing away my cross shredder anytime soon.

It’s good for hiding data from a casual observer,
Customer Video Review Length:: 2:33 Mins
I will be the first one to agree that this will not hide data from someone who has your document in their possession and is intent on reading the stamped-out area. I was able to remove enough of the ink using Goo-Be-Gone to see what was previously hidden.
Where I find this stamp to be useful is in hiding sensitive data from the casual (or snooping) observer. We all have documents that we want to keep around the house: receipts; contracts; bank statement; tax returns; billing statements; etc. We don’t want to shred them but we still want to keep some of the information away from prying eyes. With this stamp you can block out you Social Sec. number, account numbers, etc. so that a “guest” in your home can’t just “happen” to see how much money you make each year. No, this is not a substitute for shredding, just a convenient way to hide some data on documents that you intend to keep.
